Directions: Unwrap the bar of soap a few days before you want to make soap carvings. I have let mine dry out for as little as 2 1/2 to 3 days, which worked fine. Ivory soap works great for carving but works even better if it has had time to dry out. It won't be as messy, and it will carve easier.

Work outside over a plastic table cloth to make clean up easier. The shavings can still be used for hand washing if you place them inside a soap saver.
